Refereeing

The PHR programme aims to produce high quality research information to improve the health of the public and reduce inequalities in health. We rely on methodological and subject specific experts to comment on the content of short briefing papers, referee full proposals and review draft reports of research findings. These comments are passed to members of the PHR Boards in confidence, and, in anonymised format, to applicants and fellow experts as part of the assessment processes.

We try not to over-burden people so you would not be asked to do more than 2 or 3 refereeing jobs a year. We would also only ask you to read proposals that are of interest to you or you have some subject knowledge of.

If you would like to help the PHR programme by becoming a referee, please complete 'Referee application form' and email it back to info@phr.ac.uk. There are usually three refereeing rounds per year.
