We strongly advise that applicants read the guidance notes in full before filling out the proposal form to ensure that it meets the expected criteria.

• Requirements to support research in the NHS this is a copy of the letter sent to all NHS trusts and SHAs regarding recent policy statements and operational requirements for research in the NHS. Applicants are recommended to view this information if their projects include any NHS components or partners.

Assessment dates

We expect most outline proposals received by the cut-off date of 1pm on 23 April 2012 and deemed within remit to be assessed at the June 2012 Research Funding Board who will assess for scientific quality, feasibility and value for money. However, due to a very high response to previous commissioned calls, it may be necessary to defer some outline applications until later in 2012. We will let you know when your application will be considered after the closing date.
